Shortlisted for the 2012 Georgian Group Architectural Awards
An exciting opportunity was given to design and construct a new library to match the elegance of a Regency country house. The new library uses the same stone and repeats the sash windows and curved bays of the original building and rises internally from a patterned Purbeck Stone floor to a fluted dome with glazed octagonal lantern above and is fitted with a continuous iron balustrade and spiral stair. Mouldings for all the bookcases, cornices and plasterwork were derived from originals within the house.
